Kyoko M.’s The Black Parade
I apologize for this being late. Between dentist appointments and getting sick I’ve not felt up to writing. I hope to be on track for this week’s book review. On with this review.
The Black Parade is about a woman with the ability to see the dead, angels, and demons. Her job is to help the dead cross over. Along the way, she fights demons and helps angels. I like the main character in this story for several reasons. She’s sassy, brave, and stubborn traits I can relate to. I’m thrilled with another main character that’s not white. She’s half Spanish and half Black. There need to be more diversity in books with non-white characters and here’s one. The thematic elements of the story revolve around several questions. What do we atone for? How do we atone? What sacrifices are you willing to make?
Miss Kyoko writes The Black Parade series (series name and book one are the same), and the Of Cinder and Bone series. Remember if you buy any of the author’s books remember to rate and review them. This week’s book review is “The Thought Readers” by Dima Zales. This one is going to interesting because the main character is a guy named Darren and he gets to learn about the abilities he has. See you on Thursday!
