Safe Haven

So, after posting some heavy poetry, I thought I would post something a little lighter. When we spend time outdoors, we can heal. Please enjoy this short poem.

Don't forget about this week's book review on Thursday.

Trees like ancient temple columns rise around my cabin, framing the incandescent moon.

I gaze out of the open window to the black velvet night glittering like fairy dust.

The crickets, frogs, and rustling leaves start tonight’s symphony, I get up to add the crackle of fire.

The sharp scent of pine embraces wild roses like an old lover.

The wolves start their counter-melody, I reach for an old book friend who’s well worn and much loved.

Settled in my chair once more, I wrap up in my blanket listening to nature’s concert.

Tucked away in my safe haven, my heartache is forgotten because there is only peace here.
