Today's poem is dedicated to those who are hurting or have been hurt. The deepened does lead to madness and death. If you need help please seek it from people and not the internet. You're not alone.
Dark Spaces
The soothing sound of gunfire echoes in the halls of school.
You ask, “How can this happen?”
What did you expect? I’m created in the dark spaces.
Dark shadowy spaces between hate and despair.
I cry for help but you ignore me.
I scream for you to hear my words, but you’re deaf to them.
I yell for you to see me, but you stare through me as if I don’t exit.
People harm me and all you can ask is “What did you do?”
Nothing, I did nothing to earn the heaping cruelty.
I wrap the darkness around me.
The in-between spaces where I am blamed and hated
Created the so-called monster.
You say, “Human life has worth.”
I laugh because my life has no meaning.
To me, sinking in hopelessness
No one’s life has meaning.
It’s what you taught me after all.
But today, you will see me, hear me, and pay attention.
