Karen Lynch’s "Relentless"
Welcome to the first post of the New Year. On Tuesday the book cover for Flowers and Bones will be revealed, so be sure to look for it. Now, onto the book review.
Relentless is a story of a sixteen year old trying to find out why her father was murdered. It’s also a story of discovery—finding out who you are, why secrets can hurt others, and what you’ll do to save your loved ones. I liked the character arcs within the story and how those arcs change the characters. I enjoyed the twists on traditional paranormals like werewolves and vampires. This book is told in first person and maybe a turn off for some readers. If you like unique twists and stories about self-discovery this is a book for you.
Ms. Lynch has a trilogy in this series and three side books dealing with secondary characters from the main series. Next week’s book review is Pippa DaCosta’s Beyond the Veil a story about a young woman who is half human and half demon being chased between a prince of hell, a bounty hunter, and the rest of demon kind. I may end up with a high speed chase, but we’ll see. Don’t forget to check in on Tuesday for the Flowers and Bones book cover reveal!
