Christmas Present 5
Welcome to the last Christmas present. This is another scene that takes place before the forthcoming Flowers and Bones. It's also told from Constantine Hywel's point-of-view. Enjoy!
December 25th, 2009
Constantine grinned at Tick Tock’s scrunching nose as he woke up following their spectacular Christmas Eve night. He ran his fingers through the soft seal brown hair. I love his hair, his eyes, his laugh, his everything. Moving his fingers from his lovers’ hair to his face tracing forehead, cheeks, then his mouth. A wicked smile graced his face when a fun way to wake up his spouse occurred to him.
After waking up his husband, who screamed his name, Constantine pulled Tick Tock into the shower. More enjoyable activities happened in the shower. They dressed and packed up gifts. When they had eaten, they left for the main portal room. The secondary portal rooms to specific locations weren’t used anymore. Going from the portal room to the Clockwork Community then headed out the exit into the Washington D.C. area.
Constantine set a slow pace walking because having a leisurely walk with his husband was something to be savored. He grinned at Tick Tock’s curious glance before leaning over to kiss him. His husband tasted like peppermint toothpaste and something uniquely him. “I want to spend time making memories with you.” His heart squeezed at the red cheeks and loving gaze Tick Tock sent him.
“I love you too.” Tick Tock’s voice cracked between tenor and baritone. They both ignored the looks members of The Society were giving them. Constantine knew many people thought as heir he was required to produce an heir. He didn’t care what they thought. When I need an heir, I can appoint one of my sisters as an heir or one of their children either way I don’t have to produce an heir. They entered a grand old home with the butler who took their coats.
“Master Constantine, Master Tick Tock, the family is gathered in the back parlor.” The butler informed them.
“Thank you, Charles.” Constantine picked up the gift bag then laced his fingers with Tick Tock’s fingers. He led his husband into a back parlor where the room had his parents, grandfather, and sisters. The large Christmas tree decorated in family ornaments, popcorn garland, and twinkling lights. A grin stretched his face at seeing Momma Cat sitting with his other parents—Beau and Aislyn. Pulling his husband with him, Constantine walked over to the tall, elegant, lady who both he and his twin took after in appearance.
Momma Cat smiled at him. “Hello, Con.” His birth mother’s voice was full of joy. “Hello, Little Tick.”
Constantine leaned over and kissed her cheek. “I’m glad you’re here, Momma Cat.” He squeezed Tick Tock’s hand. His husband took the hint and also kissed Momma Cat cheek. “We brought gifts.” He laughed at the cheers of his younger sisters, Aza and Iris.
Settling next to his twin, Kalea, he watched Tick Tock beam handing out gifts to his family. A deep sense of peace dropped into his heart. Home isn’t the long stand house but with my family both new and old. For a moment nothing else mattered. It was all he could ever ask.
