Nancy Straight’s Blood Debt

I’m sorry I missed all of you at the online launch party yesterday. It was a blast. Welcome to this week’s book review. We are back to Greek Myths this week. This time we are looking at an updated version of Centaurs. If you’re unfamiliar with this myth, centaurs are half-human and half-horse. Ok, onto the review.

Blood Debt starts with the heroine wondering what her father is like and who he is. The plot circles around the main character’s mother and the secrets that were kept from the heroine, who turns out to be a female centaur. If you’re wondering, apparently, Zeus gave them human form but allowed them to keep powers. Blood Debt is mainly told through the heroine’s point of view in first person, there are a few other points of views added including the hero, the sidekick, and the villain. While the story is gripping some of the tropes can come off cliché, like the heroine being saved by the hero with the whole true love aspect to their relationship and a forced marriage to someone else. I found Ms. Straight’s reinvention of the centaurs fascinating and worth the read. This is a free ebook.

Ms. Straight in addition to writing this twist on Greek Mythology also writes paranormal romance and romance suspense. She can be found on her website here: http://www.nancystraight.com/ or goodreads here: https://www.goodreads.com/author/show/4114202.Nancy_Straight or Amazon here: https://www.amazon.com/Nancy-Straight/e/B0060ENBWO

Don’t forget to check in on Tuesday for how you can help authors by reading an Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) and next Thursday for a book review for Laura Howard’s The Forgotten Ones, which dives into Irish Mythology. See you then!
