Book Review: C. Gockel’s I Bring the Fire part 1(A Loki Story)
Today’s review is another Norse story. Gockel’s is different from Bende. In the first one we see Loki as an unknown villain. In Gockel’s we see a Loki who is a loving parent trying to save his sons. Gockel brings the myths of Loki in a different light and portraits the others in the Norse pantheon in a realistic manner. There are many different elements in Loki’s life at play and the modern day woman Amy ends up tripping up in them. There are moments in this book where laughter comes out of nowhere and your heartaches for Loki. This is a beautifully written story and is all too human. If you want a page turner with attention to characters mixing with Norse myth, then I strongly recommend this free ebook.
In addition to the Loki myths, Gockel writes dark fantasy and science fiction. She has appeared in multiple anthologies like Gods and Mortals, Once Upon a Kiss, Once Upon a Curse, Urban Mythic, and Bad Magic.

Next week’s review is Chosen by Christine Pope. This is generally outside of my general genre because like I.A. Ashcroft, it’s a post-apoplectic premise. What is getting on my list to read is the fact there’s Djinn in this one. We’ll see where it wanders to. Stay tuned for the review.
